Grantee Spotlight - “Entre dos Mundos” - Supporting journalism in two languages

The Alaska Center for Excellence in Journalism highlights one of its Fall 2025 Alaska Arts Reporting Initiative Grantees, Gabriela Olmos Rosas, whose ongoing series “Between two worlds” is being published in Alaska’s bilingual Spanish/English newspaper Sol de Medianoche.
The series introduces readers to Latin American Alaskans with stories of how they came to the state and fell in love with the communities they now call home. From reality TV, military deployments and disaster response, to sharing culture, food and community, these Alaskans answered the call of the north. “People here are very down-to-earth,” Teresa Minor told Sol de Medianoche. “They don’t care about fashion; it’s not so much about appearances. It’s more about what’s natural—how you live and how people treat one another.”
