The Senior Voice, a newspaper for Alaska’s community of elders, was a recipient of an Alaska Center for Excellence in Journalism Alaska Arts Reporting Initiative grant in the fall of 2025. The project, “The Second Act,” highlighted four elder Alaskans who have found or rekindled their artistic passions in older adulthood. The series, reported by Senior Voice editor Paola Banchero, consisted of four pieces over four months.
