Legislative Exchange Reporter hits the ground running in Juneau

Anna Lionas, a reporter from the Nome Nugget, spent five weeks in Juneau as a participant in this year’s legislative exchange reporter program. She had planned to stay four weeks but was able to extend her visit — with permission from her editor and ACEJ — because she was learning so much about covering the Legislature and the governor and producing great copy. Anna asked some tough questions at the Governor’s press conference and covered a joint session of the Legislature that considered a veto override. With the help and institutional knowledge of veteran political reporter and columnist Larry Persily, Anna’s time in the capitol city was well spent.
