DEADLINE EXTENDED: Want to level-up your Legislative reporting? Apply for the 2026 Legislative Reporter Exchange.

UPDATE Sept. 16, 2025 - The deadline for applying for the 2026 Legislative Reporter Exchange has been extended to Monday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m.!

September 2, 2025 - The Alaska Center for Excellence in Journalism is opening applications to its 2026 Legislative Reporter Exchange. The program, one of ACEJ’s hallmarks, is aimed at mid-career journalists in small Alaska newsrooms who are looking for professional development in Legislative reporting. The program helps backfill their position with a University of Alaska intern.

Applications are open now through Sept. 15 for reporters. Students interested may discuss with their journalism advisers (University of Alaska) or if non-UA students, fill out the application form.

There will be a virtual Q&A for interested reporter applicants on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. Click here to register.

A Q&A for students will come the week of Sept. 29, date and time TBD.
